Freedom’s Winter Run for Cancer Research UK
On the 31st January 2016 a number of Freedom staff took part in the London Winter Run, helping to give Cancer the cold shoulder. Joined by 15,000 people conquering the cold, our staff ran 10K through the streets of Central London past iconic landmarks such as Trafalgar Square and St Paul’s.
The race organisers, Cancer Research UK, are the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating Cancer through research. They are fighting Cancer on all fronts, finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it to save more lives.
The flagship event of the Winter Run Series, which raises money for life-saving research, saw Central London become the backdrop for the UK’s biggest winter running event. Starting in Westminster, runners headed out on a loop past some of London’s most famous landmarks including The London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben, Tower of London and many more iconic London sites.

“Around 345,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK every year – that is more than 940 people every day*. Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of the progress that has seen survival rates double in the last forty years. We couldn’t have made that progress without the generosity and dedication of our supporters and we’re incredibly grateful to the thousands of runners who took to the chilly streets of London for the Winter Run and raised vital funds to help beat cancer.”
