Freedom Sponsored Pancake Race – A Flipping Huge Success

On the 9th February 2016 Freedom’s Apprentices took part in the Rickmansworth Pancake Race. Organised by Watford Mencap and Sponsored by Freedom, the race took part in Rickmansworth High Street, with the end goal of raising vital cash for the charity which supports people with learning disabilities.

This years race saw Watford Mencap raise a record breaking £3000, a sum that can fund 8 children with learning disabilities to attend After School club at Watford Mencap’s Children’s Centre in Watford.

Every team that raised over £200 received a Pancake Medal in a presentation box, featuring the company name engraved on it.  A special item to display marking a significant contribution to Watford Mencap. The race itself featured 19 teams, split into four heats and the winner of each heat went through to the final.

“I am absolutely delighted. This year has been fantastic for us. We had 19 teams from different businesses and groups in the community who have come together to support Watford Mencap. It makes a huge difference to the lives of people who have learning disabilities as well as the event being a huge amount of fun for everyone to take part in.”
