Video Transcript for Innovative Learning in Higher Education Video
“Rachel is an economics lecturer at a North East of England University, she’s been in discussions with John the head of mergers and acquisitions at London bank, regarding a guest lecture to her thirty economic students. John’s schedule means it is yet to be arranged.
Rather than have John travel to the University, Rachel wants to discuss the potential of hosting a lecture via Skype for Businesses HD video conferencing capability, bringing John into the lecture without impacting his schedule schedule. Rachel is federated with John via Skype for Business and is tagged his presence so she can see when he is available. Working in this way means that she can contact him at the optimum time, as opposed to sending unanswered emails or calls.
Rachel sends John an instant message and he responds to say he is free to discuss the lecture, Rachel then elevates to a voice call from within the conversation window. During this discussion they agree that John will be able to present to her students next week. Rachel’s students benefit from insight and advice from industry experts, provided by an innovative and varied learning environment.”
