Max is a lecturer who wants to discuss a subject with Lisa in student services but is too busy to visit her office. He opens outlook and types her address in a new email, he can immediately
see her presence indicator is set to available. Rather than send an unnecessary email, he decides to initiate an instant message which he can do directly from within Outlook. After a brief IM exchange with Lisa they agreed to escalate the discussion to a voice call. Max then decides to add another colleague to the discussion for clarity on the matter, he can see Ben is available
and simply drags and drops him into the call, they have three way conversation, during which Max’s questions are answered.
