Freedom named Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer at National Apprenticeship Awards
Success for Freedom Communications as they are recognised by the National Apprenticeship Service
Watford, UK, 27th January 2016: Freedom Communications has been recognised in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer list, which is compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices.
Announced at the National Apprenticeship Awards in London on 26th January, the list was compiled after a tough selection process and features the most exceptional apprenticeship employers from all National Apprenticeship Awards employer categories, showcasing the breadth of employers who now offer apprenticeships.
Having identified a growing skills gap in the Unified Communications skills and competencies available in the UK, Freedom launched a global, first ever, Higher UC Apprenticeship Scheme. Funded by the Employer Ownership Pilot (EOP) and provided by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, the scheme is in partnership with West Herts College. The Apprenticeship Scheme has identified the skills required in the UC industry, and provides the necessary skillset learning to create a sustainable talent pipeline which is workplace ready.
Commenting on the company’s entry in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer list, Operations Director, Lisa Clark, said: “Since its launch in 2014, our Apprentice Scheme has produced a valuable and unique technical workforce, importantly helping to not only support Freedom’s growth but the wider industry’s too. We’re delighted that our hard work, commitment and passion has been recognised with such a prestigious award.”
Sue Husband, Director of the National Apprenticeship Service commented on Freedom Communications being named a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer:
“These Top 100 apprenticeship employers have made a difference to the lives of young people by investing in their future whilst apprentices themselves help employers to develop a skilled, qualified workforce that builds a stronger economy. Apprentice employers are creating opportunities for young people to gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
“I hope that the success of these Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers will encourage more businesses across England to follow their example and find out how apprenticeships can help grow a skilled and highly qualified workforce.”
Chris Jones, Chief Executive of the City & Guilds Group, said:
“High quality apprenticeship programmes can help individuals gain the skills they need to progress. And for employers, apprenticeships play a crucial role in developing a skilled workforce.”
