Data Network solution for North West Leicestershire District Council
North West Leicestershire District Council serves a population of 88,800 focused around the towns of Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Coalville. As with all local and central government bodies, Council leaders at North West Leicestershire are trying to push through service transformation plans defined by central government in order to revolutionise service delivery for council residents.
Based upon these objectives North West Leicestershire evaluated its communications strategy and how it could be harnessed to deliver measurable benefits. The council understood that a service transformation would be required to offer the highest level of service to the regions citizens. For North West Leicestershire, this involved the inclusion of a new customer service centre in their delivery plan.

Thurrock District Council Upgrades Infrastructure
Thurrock is a unitary authority in Essex that lies along the north bank of the River Thames just to the east of London. It has a population of approximately 145, 000, including the towns of Tilbury, Purfleet, Thurrock and Grays. Thurrock Council has its headquarters in Grays, housing approximately 1000 council employees.
Steve Liddiard, ICT client manager for Thurrock Council, was concerned about the increasing number of network reliability fault calls. This was a serious issue amongst staff using the most data intensive applications. Employees were having problems connecting on to the network, speeds were slow and the network would often stop responding. Where employees were connected to network points at the furthest distance from the hub, (90metres) there were constant problems. Steve knew that the only real option to improve reliability was to upgrade the network cabling to the latest standard – CAT6.

National Audit Office Chooses Freedom Communications
The National Audit Office has the highly responsible independent role of scrutinising public spending on behalf of Parliament. Based at Victoria, it employs more than 800 people, many of whom frequently move from team to team – and location to location – within the NAO’s offices.
This flexible working arrangement presented a unique challenge when Freedom Communications were asked to tender for the NAO’s new communications system.
There is a high churn rate between audit teams, yet the existing system ran on a traditional block-wire network, so every move of personnel or location would involve up to four departments. To make matters even more complicated, a number of staff work away from the office, and the old system included limited voicemail capacity.
