The client is a leading recruitment company based in Milton Keynes with remote offices in a number of locations around the world, including Texas in the USA, Australia, and Kuwait. The business has grown from start- up to having over 60 users spread across these locations in a very short space of time.
Challenge
The business is experiencing rapid growth across a number of global locations and needs to have an IT infrastructure that is capable of meeting this requirement. Whilst there are currently four worldwide locations it is expected that this will rise to 8 within 12 months.
IT within the company was primarily located within their UK offices with further servers at the remote offices; this had resulted in a lack of centralisation and a perceived lack of control of technology within the business. The company wanted to examine ways in which they could provide a controlled, centralised environment with significantly improved communications between the sites.
The Sollution
Freedom Communications undertook a project to firstly understand the business requirement for the project and what the desired goals were. This involved liaising with office locations around the world to understand the issues that they are experiencing. Once the desired solution was chosen a full project plan was created to ensure a smooth planned implementation onto the new platform.
Based around Hewlett Packard infrastructure, virtualisation software from VMware a new hosted Microsoft Terminal Services solution was implemented. This will involve installing a number of servers within a London data centre to deliver a virtual desktop to all of the company’s users across all of the remote locations.
Via Easynet we have also implemented a global MPLS offering the client fast, reliable, and secure connections between the data centre and the remote office locations. Freedom Communications will provide on- going Managed Services to the business via a dedicated onsite resource. to ensure that the infrastructure is well managed and maintained as well as offering the business strategic business advice in relation to technology.
