Arsenal Fans dial for Wenger, some a bit too often

28 April 2010

Arsène Wenger’s voice proving popular as customer service gets a little ‘je ne sais quoi’

Since a recording of Arsène Wenger’s voice has been used on the Arsenal Football Club Hospitality and Premium Sales hotline, calls have gone up significantly, not only from people wanting to join the waiting list for Emirates Stadium’s Club Level, but also from many supporters who just want to listen to the Frenchman’s dulcet tones.

One woman supporter, who does not want to be named, has admitted to dialing daily for her fix of Arsène, sometimes ringing up to eight times a day in order to hear Mr Wenger’s voice.

The service, which guides callers through a range of options including information on joining the season ticket waiting list for Club Level, a premium level of 6,700 seats in at Emirates Stadium, used by many companies to entertain clients and colleagues, has seen record numbers calling in since Wenger recorded the voice over.

Dan Tolhurst, Communications Manager at Arsenal Football said:. “The number of callers has been staggering and we’ve been pleasantly surprised that people are not only calling for information about Club Level at Emirates Stadium, but also just to hear Arsène’s voice.”

Pat Botting, managing director of Freedom Communications, which installed the technology, which runs all of Arsenal’s telecommunications, said, “The solution we installed at the Emirates is very powerful. Arsène delivered a perfect performance getting the message in just one take. No substitutes were needed.”

Anyone wishing to listen to Arsène Wenger should call 0845 262 0001 (or 020 7704 3697 from overseas).
