Freedom’s Unified Communications Apprentice Programme
Having identified a growing skills gap in the Unified Communications skills and competencies available in the UK, Freedom launched a global first – the first ever Higher UC Apprenticeship Scheme.
Funded by the Employer Ownership Pilot (EOP), provided by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, the scheme is in partnership with West Herts College, a key Freedom customer. The apprenticeship scheme has identified the skills required in the UC industry, and provides the necessary skillset learning to create a sustainable talent pipeline which is workplace ready.
With significant growth in the UC market predicted over the next 5 years, the need for the skills delivered by Freedom’s UC Apprentice scheme is of increasing importance. Freedom’s Apprentice scheme supports the development of its next generation workforce and addresses the skills gap within the Unified Communications market.

“Whilst studying IT at college, Freedom influenced what topics were taught on the course. I felt that a UC apprenticeship would be a fantastic next step in my career. As an apprentice, Freedom are making sure I’m constantly receiving training and developing my skills inside Freedom’s supportive and welcoming workplace”. Sean Hansberry, UC Apprentice
Since it’s introduction the Apprenticeship scheme has been extremely popular and has been nominated and won a wide array of awards ranging from best SME Apprenticeship to Personal Development awards Locally and Regionally.
On the 27th January 2016 Freedom were recognised in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer list, which is compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices.
