Royal Grammar School Ensures Open Channels With Freedom Voice Network

Freedom Communications, a specialist provider of secure communications solutions, today announced that it has delivered an IP-based voice network solution for High Wycombe based Royal Grammar School (RGS)

Freedom Communications was selected as the outsourced telecommunications partner for Royal Grammar School and deployed the award-winning Alcatel OmniPCX Office solution. The initial design provided capacity for 100 users with the capability to be easily scaled to over 200 when required

As part of the specification, Freedom integrated the OmniPCX Office with the school’s existing IT network to provide the front desk operators with a screen-based telephony console. The screen-based consoles allow operators to deal more efficiently with the high volume of inbound calls that schools have to cope with at peak times, as well as giving a campus wide overview of each extension’s availability.

In addition to enhancing the key users’ experience with soft consoles, Freedom provided a simple-to-use network management application that enables the school’s network administration team to manage the system post installation.

The application – OMC – is a specific Alcatel-Lucent tool that will allow the school to modify settings, add users and dynamically adapt to change without the need to invest in further engineering. This provides a lower total cost of ownership.
