National Audit Office chooses Freedom Communications

The National Audit Office has the highly responsible independent role of scrutinising public spending on behalf of Parliament. Based at Victoria, it employs more than 800 people, many of whom frequently move from team to team – and location to location – within the NAO’s offices. This flexible working arrangement presented a unique challenge when Freedom Communications were asked to tender for the NAO’s new communications system. There is a high churn rate between audit teams, yet the existing system ran on a traditional block-wire network, so every move of personnel or location would involve up to four departments. To make matters even more complicated, a number of staff work away from the office, and the old system included limited voicemail capacity.
